RANSOM NOTES TO CIVILIZATION
A COLLECTION OF COLLAGE POETRY

This series includes fragmented poetry made of cut-out words from, old books and magazines. These pieces—rewritten exam questions, altered ads, broken sentences—feel disjointed yet strangely familiar. By reshuffling found language, I expose humor, contradictions, and overlooked truths in everyday life. I work by hand, cutting and assembling printed text intuitively. I gravitate toward words that feel misplaced, absurd, or unsettling, letting chance and instinct guide their arrangement. Some pieces resemble distorted advertisements, others read like instructions for a world gone wrong. The way the words intersect creates tension—between logic and nonsense, seriousness and humor. This work comes from frustration with a world consumed by digital noise. We scroll mindlessly while real experiences slip past us. I don’t want our kids to grow up in a world where it’s easier to be a digital zombie than to be present. These collages disrupt the expected, forcing a pause in the stream of endless information.
